Sweet Morning Time, Anonymous Psalm 63:1: O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee. Rev. 2:26,28: And he who overcomes and he who keeps my works until the end, ...to him I will give the morning star. Footnote four in Revelation 22:16 says, At His coming back Christ will be the rising sun to His people generally (Malachi 4:2) but the morning star to His watching lovers particularly. The latter will be a reward to the overcomers (2:28). Whenever I read these verses, I am always reminded of my parent's living, of how they wake up early in the morning to call on the Lord and to have a sweet time with the Lord. It wasn't until my junior high school years that morning revival, a time with the Lord in the morning, became a time of enjoyment rather than a mandatory time before I went to school or did other things. During those years, I surely tasted the sweetness of His Word. I remember I used to sing this song almost every day: Thy Word is sweet unto my taste; yea, sweeter more than honey. It says to watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. It was indeed sweet to spend time with the Lord for thirty minutes each morning, beholding Him by masticating on His Word through pray-reading the Word (Ephesians 6:17-18). Gradually however, things started to get in the way. I started to get up at 5 a.m., not to enjoy this Word but to cram for my biology or physics exam that day. Excuses upon excuses of not having morning revival, I started to drift away from the Lord bit by bit. Before I knew it, I went through a whole week without having morning time with the Lord. My life turned upside down and I just felt so unsatisfied and empty within. Even if I did wake up and call on the Lord, it was already too late and the manna had already melted. But thank the Lord for His mercy of bringing me to the Full-Time Training. Here, the regulation is for the trainees to wake up at 6 am. But I can testify that waking up early in the morning to touch and meet God is not a regulation anymore; rather, it is an enjoyment! What a wonderful salvation it is, to be brought back to life, back to God's presence in the morning! I really treasure this personal time with the Lord by consecrating my being and the day to Him. I appreciate that when I pursue the Lord early in the morning, He is always faithful to speak a word to me personally. Especially in this dark and evil age we are in, it is always good to lovingly seek the Lord early in the morning. When we seek Him in this way, He increases in us organically, resulting in the building up of the Body of Christ and the exulting of Christ as our Head! We need to respond to the Lord's calling for overcomers by rising early to receive the reward of His private appearance as the morning star! Main | History | Testimonies | Links Copyright © 2002.
